DSA on Newsmax TV: Working in High Temperatures – What Does the Law Say?

Aug 14, 2026

Our Kristina Stojanović appeared as a guest on the “Presek dana” programme on Newsmax TV, where she discussed one of the current issues in employment law – working in high temperatures.

Can an employer organise outdoor work when temperatures exceed 36°C? What do the applicable regulations actually provide in such circumstances, and where are there gaps in the current legal framework?

During the interview, Kristina pointed out that there is currently no legally binding regulation specifically governing outdoor work in extremely high temperatures. Particular attention was given to how, within the existing legal framework, employers can balance their obligation to ensure safe and healthy working conditions during periods of high temperatures with the operational needs of their business.

In addition to the existing legal framework, Kristina also discussed potential practical and regulatory solutions that could provide greater legal certainty for both employees and employers.
